How the Thai e-Visa works
According to the Royal Thai Embassy FAQ, the Thai e-Visa system has been in effect since 1 January 2025 and applications are made on the official government portal, thaievisa.go.th. The applicant must be physically in Pakistan for the whole process and must upload proof of their current location. Applications that do not do this are rejected. The embassy lists tourist, transit, non-immigrant and diplomatic or official categories. Always start from the official portal or the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad; unofficial look-alike websites exist.
Documents commonly requested
- Passport valid for at least six months, with blank pages and a clear data page scan.
- Recent passport-style photograph that meets the portal's specification.
- Proof of funds, usually recent bank statements, with a salary slip or business proof (NTN, company letter).
- Confirmed accommodation for the stay and an onward or return flight reservation.
- Proof of your current location in Pakistan, as required by the portal.
- Employment letter, business registration or student documents showing ties to Pakistan.
Exact requirements, fees and processing times are set by the portal and can change. Confirm them on the official site before paying.
Mistakes that cause rejection
- Fake bookings. The embassy warns that fake airline tickets or hotel bookings lead to rejection and possible blacklisting. Use genuine, checkable reservations.
- Uploading blurry or cropped scans, or a photo that does not match the specification.
- Bank statements that do not match the stated profession or travel budget.
- Applying from outside Pakistan, or without proof of your location.
- Entering different details in the form than in your documents.
Timeline
Many applicants receive a decision within a few working days, but processing varies by season. Apply well before your travel date and do not buy non-refundable tickets until the visa is approved.
